Whether you are launching a new site, or need website solutions to revamp your current site, these are 3 areas you can improve your website.
1. The Content
Create a simple statement of what you want your website to do then ask yourself as you upload content if it is helping or hurting that goal. To keep visitors on your site your content should be genuine, authentic, and engaging.
Less is more, so keep it simple but to the point. You could display a quick summary about your business, and then have another tab, scroll down, or button linked to more information for those who want to read further.
2. The Design
The design should be easy to navigate. Keep your site to 4-5 pages maximum and keep navigation words conventional and simple. Use “Contact” rather than “Chat @ Us”, and “Info” than “Info About Us” etc. Design your site based on what the user is already expecting. For example, users are used to clicking on the logo to take them back to the home page, and users expect to scroll down to the bottom of the page to find frequently asked questions and contact information.
Keep dark text on light backgrounds and light text on dark backgrounds. Use a large enough contrast in colors so the text is easy to read. Light purple on dark blue will not be as easy to read as white on dark blue. The easiest for the human eye to read is dark text on light backgrounds, so keep the majority of your content in that style, and choose fonts that are easy to read. If you don’t know where to start for design you could take notes of sites you already visit that you like, or hire someone to design your site for you.
3. The Integration
Your website should not only let the visitor know more about you, but connect them to you, and encourage them to take an action. Make sure that your links work. If you have videos, links to social media, or any other type of integrated platform, test the links and make sure they are working properly. An essential factor is to make sure your site is mobile friendly.
Most people will visit your site on their mobile devices, so making sure your site is just as readable, and easy to navigate on a mobile device is paramount. If you are unsure how to integrate your website, working with a website solutions company could be a good idea.
